Integrated risk assessment for oil and gas installations in sensitive areas

Abstract: Oil and gas installations in sensitive areas with harsh environmental conditions may require improved risk management. Intensified monitoring, assessment and mitigation of risk on a (quasi-) real time basis would advantage not only the operators, but also the surrounding environment. A systematic tool for continuous quantitative evaluation of safety and environmental issues is still lacking. The present work introduces a novel methodology for the integrated assessment of human and environmental risk. A dynamic… Show more

“…Real-time data and periodical risk evaluation may be considered as a key improvement to allow for effective decision-making support (Bucelli et al, 2017). However, being static QRA precludes any possible update and integration of the overall risk figures, due to the actual real world ever-changing environment or later improvements based on new risk notions.…”

“…Recently, BN-based methodologies have been proposed in (Baksh et al, 2018, Abaei et al, 2018, Hegde et al, 2018 for risk assessment in the maritime domain. Additionally, Bucelli et al (2018) proposed a dynamic risk assessment approach by adapting the Risk Barometer (RB) (Paltrinieri and Khan, 2016) concept.…”
