Integrated single-fed circularly-polarized patch antennas with high-Q cavity filters

Abstract: A circularly-polarized (CP) filter/antenna system is presented herein. The filter/antenna system is formed by a cavity resonator and a single-fed corner-truncated patch antenna. The corner-truncated patch works as both a resonator of the cavity filter and a CP radiating element. By vertically integrating the CP patch antenna with the cavity resonator, a second-order filtering response is obtained with near-zero transition loss and a reduced size. The filter/antenna operates at the center frequency of 10.08 GHz… Show more

“…Back-toback microstrip patch antennas acted as resonators as well as radiators when being coupled to a slotted ground plane in between [16,17]. Cavity resonators were also used to play the filter role [18]. Dual-band notches were introduced in [19], by adding a band stop filter at the feed-line.…”

“…Cascading of a UWB filter and antenna resulting in a UWB filtenna is illustrated in [6]. The authors in [7] have designed a cavity backed circularly polarised patch antenna, which renders a second‐order filtering response. Circular patch antenna, fed by a coupled line filter is proposed in [8], functioning at 2.45 GHz.…”
