This study explores how computer science students might utilize their talents to digitize the agriculture sector, aiming to enhance sustainable output and eliminate hunger. This study comprehensively analyzes 126 undergraduate students at IPB University using the Individual Interest Questionnaire technique. The poll showed that students have a modest interest in agriculture (rated 3.31 out of 5.00). However, their involvement with agricultural themes outside the classroom, like reading or viewing relevant media, is far below. Students are enthusiastic about case studies involving the application of computer science in agriculture in academic contexts (3.05). However, they are less interested in agriculture as a personal or career option (2.31 and 2.50, respectively). The results indicate that although computer science is appreciated in the digitalization of agriculture, students are more inclined towards academic curiosity rather than personal passion or professional aspirations in agriculture. The survey shows that students have a reasonable interest in agricultural issues, although participation in extracurricular agriculture-related activities may be significantly increased. The report suggests strategies for increasing involvement in higher education, such as introducing agri-tech courses, collaborating with industry, encouraging research, organizing contests, and promoting the integration of computer science with agriculture.

Student chapter adalah bagian integral dari asosiasi ilmiah yang misinya untuk memajukan ilmu pengetahuan sambil memperkenalkan mahasiswa pada dunia ilmiah dan profesional. IPB University ACM SIGCHI Student Chapter didirikan pada tahun 2019 sebagai student chapter pertama di Indonesia, mungkin bahkan di Asia Tenggara. Student chapter ini secara bertahap telah menjadi komunitas praktik yang menghubungkan mahasiswa, dosen, dan alumni dengan minat atau bahkan profesi di bidang desain pengalaman pengguna (UXD) terkait. Kami mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor kunci dan strategi-strategi yang memungkinkan babak mahasiswa kami berkembang. Kami juga telah mengamati dampak kegiatan babak mahasiswa pada kompetensi mahasiswa dalam UXD. Meskipun penelitian sebelumnya telah membahas kompetensi pengalaman pengguna dan cara mengajarkannya di universitas, kami menemukan sedikit literatur tentang pengukuran dampak kegiatan mahasiswa dalam student chapter pada kompetensi UXD mereka. Dalam makalah ini, kami bertujuan untuk mempresentasikan peran IPB University ACM SIGCHI Student Chapter dari tahun 2019 hingga 2021 dalam menumbuhkan talenta UXD di IPB University. Pertama-tama, kami mempresentasikan strategi yang kami gunakan untuk memastikan keberlanjutan babak mahasiswa. Kedua, kami mempresentasikan penelitian awal kami untuk mengukur kegiatan student chapter dan dampaknya pada perkembangan talenta UXD mahasiswa. Terakhir, kami mempresentasikan peluang dan tantangan yang kami temukan dalam tiga tahun pertama menjalankan student chapter. Kami berharap pelajaran yang kami peroleh dari kegiatan kami dapat mendorong lebih banyak student chapter, mendorong kolaborasi antar-student chapter, dan memupuk diskusi lebih lanjut tentang keberlanjutan dan dampak student chapter.

The virtual field trip format offers several advantages over a fully three-dimensional world, including its ease and cost-effectiveness in creation and development. By utilizing a 360 camera, capturing images becomes convenient, portable, and viable even in remote regions. With the amount of activity involving students and agricultural society, the potential for integrating these field trip experiences into a learning experience is significant in IPB University. Not only it able to help students understand the context before doing the actual field trip, it also able to improve their empathy to the society introduced through the virtual field trip. This research aims to present the development of a virtual reality tour to introduce digital village ecosystem to computer science students and measure its presence among the students. The 360 scenes were captured during a visit to a digital village in West Java, and an immersive learning plan was devised to introduce the digital village ecosystems. The learning path was designed based on the cone of learning principle. To evaluate the effectiveness of the virtual reality system, presence questionnaires were administered, a knowledge test was conducted, and interviews were carried out with 22 students. Research indicates that the virtual field trip successfully introduced one digital village ecosystem in Cibodas, West Java Province. Students were able to explore the village site, learn about the digital village ecosystem, and provide valuable feedback. The presence questionnaire yielded a score of 5.49 out of 7, indicating a positive immersive experience. The two are of improvements are Involvement (4.96 of 7.00) and Distraction Factor (5.20 of 7.00). The interviews identified areas for improvement, such as enhancing content quality and increasing natural interaction within the system. In conclusion, this research has laid the foundation for the IPB Immersive Field Trip Platform by developing a virtual field trip that introduces computer science students to a digital village ecosystem. The findings demonstrate promising results and provide insights for further refinement of the platform.
