Integrating multiple information sources for landslide hazard assessment: the case of Italy

Abstract: Landslides are the most frequent and diffuse natural hazards in Italy causing the greatest number of fatalities and damage to urban areas. The integration of natural hazard information and social media data could improve warning systems to enhance the awareness of disaster managers and citizens about emergency events. The news about landslide events in newspapers or crowdsourcing platforms allows fast observation, surveying and classification. Currently, few studies have been produced on the combination of soc… Show more

“…Within the three sub-basins of the Entella Stream, the Graveglia Stream catchment is probably the best known, not only because of its mining history related to its numerous manganese and sulfide mines but also because of its geological and geomorphological setting. [47], available on Regione Liguria cartographic service (WFS) of the Graveglia Basin and affected hamlets locations. DsGSD boundary plotted from the investigations reported in [48]; (d) Lithological map of the study area derived from 1:50,000 geological map "Sestri Levante" of CARG project [49,50], download from Regione Liguria cartographic service (WFS).…”

“…Due to these meteorological conditions and the geomorphological setting, Liguria is one of the regions most affected by landslides in Italy (Guzzetti et al 2004;D'Amato Avanzi et al 2011;Cevasco et al 2013Cevasco et al , 2015Giordan et al 2017;Pepe et al 2019;Calvello and Pecoraro 2018;Franceschini et al 2022b).…”

“…As researchers face the need for comprehensive methods to produce impact datasets, the use of text data for extracting information on natural hazard consequences is flourishing (de Brito et al, 2020;Franceschini et al, 2022;Hao & Wang, 2020;L. Li et al, 2021;Liu & Jensen, 2018).…”
