Integrating News Media into History Classes to Teach both Content and Civic Literacy

Abstract: This article provides a practical guide for how secondary education social studies teachers can take an integrative approach to the use of current media articles to develop their students' civic literacy skills (reading for information as well as interdisciplinary writing) while enriching the teaching of content in their current history classes.
