Abstract: The lateral hypothalamus (LH) is a critical brain region orchestrating survival behaviours including feeding. Its sparse intrinsic synaptic connectivity allows long-range projections to modulate its activity. Some of these projections arise from the cerebral cortex, which is known to influence feeding.
