This article carries out a bibliometric research review to present the evolving landscape of innovations in science education. The study acknowledges the dynamism of the contemporary educational practices and uses the bibliometric analyses for identification of trends, assessment of impacts of scholarly outputs, and mapping the future directions in the field of science education innovation. Starting with a review of the standard bibliometric indicators, e.g., citation analysis and co-authorship, the review lays down the theoretical basis for the understanding of the scientific impact of the innovations in science education. The analysis, moreover, consists of identifying thematic foci and emerging topics through keyword mapping, which together present a holistic picture of the intellectual map of the field. The review points to seminal works and trends, demonstrating the nature of interdisciplinarity in research in science education innovation. By the analysis of collaborative networks and research hotspots the research not only demonstrates the present status of the field, but also predicts its future directions, which could help researchers and educators at the same time. Also, as a retrospective tool, the article explores the general relevance of bibliometric insights for educators, administrators, and other researchers. It highlights the application of bibliometrics in evidence-based decision-making, curricula design and international collaboration, because it is common knowledge that it can trigger the great revolution in innovative science education. This bibliometric review generates useful outcomes, which are beneficial to academic discussions and provide guidelines for future research efforts as a key reference for researchers who would like to have a deep, general overview of the innovations in science education.

Purpose The COVID-19 epidemic has brought attention to the variables that influence the mental health of health workers who are entrusted with nursing individuals. Despite the fact that many articles have examined the effects of social media usage on mental health, there is a lack of research synthesizing learning from this body of research. The purpose of this study is to use text mining and citation-based bibliometric analysis to conduct a detailed review of extant literature on health workers’ mental health and social networking habits. Design/methodology/approach This study conducts a full-text analysis of 36 articles selected on health workers' mental health and social media using text-mining techniques in R programming and a bibliometric citation analysis of 183 papers from the Scopus database in VOS viewer software. But the limitations of the methods used in this study are that the bibliometric analysis was limited to the Scopus database because the VOS viewer program did not support any other database and the text-mining approach caused the natural processing redundancy. Findings The bibliometric analysis reveals the thematic networks that exist in the literature of health workers’ mental health and social networking. The findings from text mining identified ten topic models, which helped to find the related papers classified in ten different groups and are provided alongside a summary of the published research and a list of the primary authors with posterior probability through Latent Dirichlet Allocation. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first hybrid review, combining text mining and bibliometric review, on health workers’ mental health where social networking plays a moderating role. This paper critically provides an overview of the impact of social networking on health workers' mental health, presents the most important and frequent topics, introduces the scientific visualization of articles published in the Scopus database and suggests further research avenues. These findings are important for academics, health practitioners and medical specialists interested in learning how to better support the mental health of health workers using social media.

PurposeThis study aims to pinpoint gaps in the literature on corporate governance and remuneration by producing a comprehensive bibliometric review for the period 1990–2020.Design/methodology/approachBibliometric analysis is the quantitative study of the bibliographic material in a specific research field. It allows an analyst to classify that material by paper, journal, author, indexation, institution or country, among other possibilities. This study reviews a total of 298 Web of Science–indexed journal articles on corporate governance and top-management remuneration schemes.FindingsThe authors find five distinct research strands: (1) firm performance and remuneration of top management, (2) the remuneration and independence of boards of directors and the efficiency of boards of directors as a governance system, (3) outside-director remuneration and the efficiency of outside directors as a monitoring system, (4) director remuneration and the corporate governance of companies and (5) the role of ownership structure and top managers' compensation schemes as corporate-governance tools. The authors identify gaps in the literature and avenues for future research for each of these strands.Practical implicationsThe authors’ findings have implications for board diversity (e.g. gender diversity), remuneration policy for top-level managers and governance issues (independent directors, separation of ownership with control). This study is the only one to summarize the key topics on which top research has been focused and can be broadly used for corporate governance management perspective.Originality/valueThis paper provides an overview of how the literature on corporate governance and remuneration has developed and a synopsis of the most influential and most productive authors, countries and journal sources. It creates an opportunity for other researchers to focus on this area. This study will also serve as a foundation for future meta-analyses.
