Abstract: Burley tobacco, a chlorophyll‐deficient mutant with impaired nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), generally requires three to five times more nitrogen fertilization than flue‐cured tobacco to achieve a comparable yield, which generates serious environmental pollution and negatively affects human health.
