Intelligent agents driving computer generated forces for simulating human behaviour in urban riots

Abstract: Over the last decade the authors have been working on several researches concerning the use of intelligent agents for managing simulation of critical situations in security, such as managing civil disorders, riots or terrorist actions. The adoption of intelligent agents to reproduce human behaviour is a key factor to implement realistic models for security and civil protection. Human behaviour is very complex to be simulated and it is important to early test final results to get consistent models. In this pape… Show more

“…In order to capture the individual behaviour and its effect on the whole social community, the authors makes use of IA-CGF Libraries developed in the course of the year by Simulation Team (Figure 9) [6,29]. The basic idea is to reproduce virtually an entire city in order to create a test environment for social dynamics based on the WOM phenomena.…”

“…Considering these aspects, interoperable CGF designed to direct entities and to operate C2 in the NEC need to demonstrate some intelligent capability in order to support the simulation of complex processes related to information sharing, processing and decision making. The authors propose to introduce intelligent agents that are able to apply various criteria and to define tasks and activities, similar to the approach in other application domains; 15,16 in addition, it is proposed to use these models as support to in the most appropriate C2 policy during the dynamic evolution of the context.…”
