Intelligent localisation of signals using the signal wavefronts: A review

Abstract: This paper reviews the use of Artificial Neural Networks in lightning related problems, and especially in locating the lightning using a signal sensor with a three element antenna and signal processor. “…Thus, it was experimentally demonstrated for the first time that the lightning diverter type radically affects the spectrum of electromagnetic interferences on the antenna under the model aircraft nose radome. When the segmented lightning diverter stripes are used, on the outer surface of the aircraft nose radome there arise frequencies ranging from hundreds of MHz to several GHz of the spectrum of interference signals induced on the under-radome antenna, which may be harmful for normal operation of the radio navigation devices [1,7].
