Intelligent sensors in modern machine tools

Abstract: The paper illuminates the basic information on the use of sensors in industrial measurement systems with particular reference to machine tools. The most important technical-utility parameters were presented and criteria helpful in the selection of sensors for practical applications were indicated. The latest generation of intelligent sensors was also presented, focusing on their possibilities of cooperation with information systems (Internet of Things) and the idea of Industry 4.0.
