Intelligent System Using Deep Learning for Answering Learner Questions in a MOOC

Abstract: Despite the great success of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), the success rate of learners remains very low. Therefore, a lot of research has been done to understand and solve this abandonment problem. This work is part of the same effort which aims to improve learning in MOOCs. We offer an intelligent system capable of assisting the learner by providing answers to all his questions on the subjects covered in the MOOC. The architecture of our system is based on new advances in artificial intelligence, in p… Show more

“…This cluster highlights the growing interest and potential of AI technologies and contains a total link strength of 34, with 23 links among the items in the cluster. The presence of keywords such as "vocabulary learning," "task design," and "sociocultural theory" suggests that the field is a complex and multidisciplinary one, with connections to various areas of linguistics, psychology, and education (Hamal & El Faddouli, 2022). Specific topics within the cluster include the use of conversational agents and chatbots to simulate authentic language interactions, as well as the use of dynamic assessments and automated writing evaluation tools to provide personalized feedback to language learners (Huang et al, 2022).…”

“…By taking into account the diversity of learner profiles and providing each learner with a path customized to their needs through the exploitation of their interactions with the learning environment, Smaili, Khoudda, Sraidi, Azzouzi, and Charaf (2022) aimed to personalize the MOOC content for each learner to advance their academic performance and to enhance the effectiveness of the online platform. Hamal and El Faddouli (2022) present an intelligent system built on cuttingedge developments in artificial intelligence, mainly deep learning applications, that may assist the learner by responding to all of his/her queries on the topics covered in the MOOC in the area of Natural Language Processing (NLP).…”

“…Therefore, people were developing countries to change to digital citizenship's lifelong learning, which consists of three skills: digital literacy, digital competency and digital intelligence [26] to help achieve lifelong learning and many countries have adopted this technology. For example, in their research Hamal and Faddouli [27] used intelligent systems developed on deep learning techniques to analyze student responses in MOOCs. The medical community has adapted as well.…”
