“…The complexity characteristic of this mixture triggered several studies of recovering CY and IPA from different feed compositions of this mixture. , Zhang et al developed ED and MD processes for the separation of the CY/IPA/water mixture with different feed compositions, generated in the processes of rapeseed oil production, and they gave suggestions on different separation methods according to different ranges of water composition in the mixture. Besides the techniques of process intensification mentioned above, some studies used ethylene oxide (EO) as the dehydrating agent to remove the water content in the mixture in a reactive distillation (RD) column. Furthermore, multiple functions, such as extraction and reaction, can be integrated into a process or into a single RD column to save capital cost, leading to a prominent effect on the reduction of the total annual cost (TAC). Inspired by these energy-saving designs, EO as the dehydrating agent and its usage in an RD column combined with multiple concepts of separation is proposed to apply to the CY/IPA/water mixture with different feed compositions.…”
