Inter Well Tracer Test Results in the Mature Oil Field La Cira Infantas

Abstract: La Cira Infantas is the oldest oil field in Colombia with approximately 100 years of production history, located in the Middle Magdalena Valley Basin. The field production comes from the C zone reservoir of Mugrosa Formation where the depositional environment is a fluvial meandering system. The reservoir has a high heterogeneity and it is defined as an interbedding of sandstones, shales and siltstones with an average thickness of 600 ft and a permeability range from 80 mD to 2 Darcy. The field has been under s… Show more

“…The most popular solution in the oil industry for the analysis of tracer tests is the Method of Moments (MoM), which does not depend on unknown properties of the reservoir for calculations [26]. Deans [27] was the first to introduce residence time analysis to interpret tracer tests in the petroleum industry.…”

“…Nowadays, tracer technology has developed more maturely. There have been many cases of interwell tracer monitoring used in oil fields [29][30][31][32][33]. The research of tracer monitoring used in fractured carbonate reservoirs generally prefers chemicals [34] or combines dynamic surveillance data with new analytical tools [35,36].…”
