Interactive Low Back Pain Intervention Module Based on the Back School Program: A Cluster-Randomized Experimental Study Evaluating Its Effectiveness among Nurses in Public Hospitals

Abstract: The prevalence of low back pain (LBP) among nurses is high. “…There is scientific evidence on the beneficial effects of BS in people with LBP: improved quality of life [17][18][19], decreased pain [17][18][19][20][21][22], and reduced disability [17][18][19][20][21][22][23]. However, there is limited evidence of the effects of BS on this region in healthy adults, despite the fact that one of the main goals of BS is primary prevention [16].…”

“…These results are consistent, since disability is strongly related to pain, due to the close relationship between the physical and psychosocial components [ 48 ]. In the same line, other authors who applied BSP in the lumbar region also obtained positive results [ 21 27 ], which could be due to the fact that many risk factors of lumbar pain are common to the risk factors of the cervical region [ 11 ]. A recent review concludes that exercise therapy produces an improvement in function in the cervical region [ 49 ].…”
