The study aimed to measure the success of teaching the subject of volleyball in the physical education course with the mind map. The study employed a quasi-experimental pre-posttest design with an experimental and a control group. The study was completed with a total of 66 students 33 students allocated to the experimental and 33 students to the control group. A pre-test was administered to the experimental and the control groups in order to explore students’ cognitive and psycho-motor skill levels of the relevant subjects before teaching volleyball subject.The experimental group was trained using the mind map with 40min courses a week for 9 weeks. Meantime, the control group was trained using conventional teaching methods. At the end of 9 weeks period, tests were again administered to groups. To collect data, a Volleyball Skill Test and a Psychomotor Observation Form were used. The post-tests results showed that levels of cognitive domain and overhead pass and bump pass were higher on behalf of the experimental group. In the comparisons of the cognitive and psychomotor skill levels of the two groups, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of the experimental group in the cognitive and psychomotor domains.

Learning never stops, and neither does teaching. Re-engaging critical thinking learned at an early age and boosting skills within the university setting play a critical role in shaping a generation of professionals capable of meeting the ever-changing challenges of the modern world. The experience is related to the Building Engineering degree program at the Politecnico di Torino, specifically in the first-year Building Drawing course, pointing out the relevance of the approach from the beginning of the curricular path. The discipline of Drawing, understood as a language of communication for the construction industry, is the element around which an active learning path with students is developed. The scheme adopted provided theoretical notions as the knowledge foundation, then methods and tools between tradition and innovation for representing and analyzing the projects with a critical attitude. Real-world (freehand sketching), digital (Computer-Aided Design vs Building Information Modelling), Augmented and Virtual (avatar in the metaverse) practices are presented to provide a synoptic picture of possibilities that the student may choose to self-consciously employ in further academic courses and their working life.

Previous research has demonstrated the effectiveness of digital mind-mapping in improving student learning outcomes, creativity, critical thinking skills, and motivation. However, past studies rarely focused on student engagement when exploring the implementation of collaborative digital mind mapping in higher education. This study explored student engagement in a digital mind-mapping-supported collaborative classroom. The study was qualitative descriptive in nature, involving twenty fourth-semester students from a private university in Indonesia. The data were collected through observation and interview. The findings showed that students engaged cognitively, emotionally, and behaviorally in the collaborative mind-mapping activity. The findings mostly describe student-student and student-task engagement. Therefore, further investigations are needed to examine student-teacher engagement in a mind-mapping-supported collaborative learning setting.
