Abstract: The pilot study GESTALT shows that the concept of interactive knowledge to action has substantially contributed to the sustainability of a physical activity programme in the field of dementia prevention. For this purpose changes in local structures, as well as adaptations of the GESTALT programme to the existing structures of prevention practice had to be made. The approach of cooperative planning proved to be appropriate for the generation of knowledge in terms of practice-based evidence, and it favoured the … Show more

“…It can be speculated that longer interventions might be a more adequate strategy to initiate and maintain PA of older adults with even lower PA levels at baseline. Considering implementation aspects, however, the shortening of the program was beneficial to better reach physically inactive persons than in GESTALT (lower entry barrier) 37 and fit the needs of prevention providers (funding by health insurances). Future research might be needed to strike the right balance between the two.…”

“…These unanswered questions targeting the transferability and relevant determinants of CP gain more weight in light of the increasing body of studies using CP [30][31][32][33] or similar strategies in PA promotion and health promotion [22,34,35]; not forgetting the critical voices discussing the limitations and challenges of co-creation strategies [36,37]. However, co-creating new interventions to promote PA is a complex process due to the high number of involved interest groups, the variability of outcomes, and the flexibility of the process [16,38,39].…”
