Abstract:Multilayer coatings offer significant advantages in protecting
materials’ surfaces by shielding the underlying materials hierarchically
from damage and wear. The layering morphology and structure of multilayer
coatings directly affect their wear resistance capacity. Using a systematic
set of experiments and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, we studied
the effect of layering thickness on the macroscale wear response of
DLC/WC multinanolayer coatings. Our study revealed the existence of
a critical bilayer thi… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
