Interior Sound Quality Prediction of Pure Electric Vehicles Based on Transfer Path Synthesis

Abstract: The interior sound quality (SQ) of pure electric vehicles (PEVs) has become an important consideration for users purchasing vehicles. At present, it is insufficient to take the sound pressure level as the interior acoustics design index of PEVs. Transfer path analysis (TPA) and transfer path synthesis (TPS) that take the SQ of interior noise as the improvement target remains in the preliminary exploration stage. In this paper, objective psychoacoustic parameters of SQ were taken as evaluation indexes of interi… Show more

“…The excitations are propagated to receiver points along the paths. The loads are typically interface forces (F) or volume velocities (Q) (e.g., in an engine mount, air intake and exhaust system), and the receiver responses are sound pressure (P t ) or vibration, (e.g., in-vehicle noise at the driver's ear, and structural vibration) [12,23].…”

“…The load was analyzed using matrix inversion approaches by substituting the mass term (i.e., Newton's second law of motion), with the transfer function. This approach has a range of uses in engineering [23]. The matrix inversion approach can be expressed using vibration characteristics (i.e., the acceleration value) acquired by operational vibration experiments and the inverse matrix of the transfer function, as given in Equations ( 2) and (3).…”

“…Yin et al [27] eliminated road noise using active noise control through the application of an adaptive parallel filter method. Additionally, Qian et al [28] developed an equivalent sound quality model of the interior sound in electric vehicles, while Zhang et al [29] carried out research on the evaluation method of the interior sound quality of electric vehicles.…”

“…Lennström et al [ 20 ] studied the perceived annoyance and prominence of tonal components of a purely electric car. Huang et al [ 21 ] proposed the interval analysis method for electric vehicle structure-borne noise problems and presented a case of interior noise reduction by means of EV suspension parameter changes. Qian et al [ 22 ] proposed a pure electric vehicle (PEV) interior sound quality model based on transfer path synthesis (TPS).…”
