“…2a, b, the proportions of Th17 cells were significantly higher post-infection than those in the control group ( t (28) = -6.919, P  < 0.001). This is consistent with previous data obtained from the study in patients [26]. In addition, the levels of proinflammatory cytokines in serum, such as IL-17A, IL-6, IFN-γ and TNF-α, were significantly increased post-infection ( t (28) = -2.852, P  = 0.040; t (28) = -3.655, P  = 0.036 and  t (28)  = -9.704, P = 0.001 and t (28)  = -2.876, P = 0.039, respectively) (Fig.…”

“…In accordance with the increased levels of IL-17A in the sera of CE patients [26], this study found significantly increased Th17 cell frequencies in infected mice. This effect may beneficial to the anti-parasite immune response.…”

“…Particularly, several findings demonstrated that pro-inflammatory cytokines have an important role in parasitic infections; in fact, increased serum Il-6, IFn-γ, Il-17a, and CrP levels have been found in hydatidosis patients [33]. On the other hand, in Trypanosoma cruzi-infected Il-17a-deficient mice, a lower post-infection survival rate and higher parasitemia were observed.…”

“…Infection studies demonstrate that Th17 cells mediate host defense against Trypanosoma cruzi 105 , Toxoplasma gondii 106 , Leishmania braziliensis 107 , and Echinococcus granulosus 108 infections. NK cells are a major source of IL-17 during toxoplasmosis 32 .…”
