Abstract: Metabolic syndrome (MBS) and periodontitis are distinct conditions with overlapping and unique risk factors. Periodontitis is a chronic destructive disease of the periodontium, driven by alterations in the host immune-inflammatory response to virulent periodontal pathogens.
