Intermittent claudication and peripheral arterial disease: Implications for cardiac nurses

Abstract: Intermittent claudication (IC) is a cramping pain that can be felt in the calf, thigh or buttock and occurs during walking or other exercise. It is a result of inadequate blood supply to the legs caused by atherosclerosis in the arteries and is a symptom of peripheral arterial disease.
