The pharmaceutical business meets all requirements for a complicated and tightly regulated sector, including multi-stakeholder participation. The objective is to study digital transformation strategies in hospitals to improve the safety and convenience of pharmaceutical services when providing healthcare services. In this study, a SWOT analysis is performed to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats with a digital transformation case study for hospitals in the pharmaceutical supply chain in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Information source for SWOT analysis of published articles and reports in the following aspects: Digital transformation environment of hospitals in the global pharmaceutical supply chain; new technology with reliability, safety, and security; Culture with human resources and customer experience; Laws and policies. The outcomes of the SWOT analysis highlight the opportunities, threats, weaknesses, and opportunities. The SWOT matrix and pertinent strategies should be used by hospitals in the pharmaceutical supply chain to maximize their strengths and opportunities while minimizing risks or managing their weaknesses and issues with the digital transformation. Finally, decision-makers and stakeholders are urged to apply the lessons learned from SWOT analysis and planning to the hospital's role in building a reliable pharmaceutical supply chain. The consequences of this study include integrating potent new technology, revising methods, and redesigning organizational structure in order to alter and modernize a pharmaceutical supply chain operation.

Understanding customer behavior and the factors influencing decisions to purchase medicines is crucial for businesses. This study aimed to examine the factors influencing customers’ decisions to purchase medicines in Ho Chi Minh City (HCM). This quantitative study used a self-administered questionnaire. A convenience quota sample of 599 participants was recruited online and offline, and data were collected from July to October 2022. The questionnaire included 8 items on personal characteristics, 6 on customers’ medicine use characteristics, 13 on factors determining where to buy medicine, and 17 on factors influencing customers’ decision to buy medicine. A two-step cluster analysis method was used to identify three distinct customer clusters based on common characteristics. Statistical significance was set at p<0.05, with a 95% confidence interval. Of the 632 distributed questionnaires, 599 were returned and analyzed, resulting in a response rate of 94.78%. When making decisions about purchasing medicines, customers expressed the highest level of concern regarding the therapeutic effects of medicines (mean = 4.40 ± 0.77) and the least interest in advertisements (mean = 3.29 ± 1.19). Offering a wide range of products from different brands provides customers with more choices, which attracts them to drugstores. It is recommended that companies minimize their efforts to advertise medicines in Vietnam.

Many studies present solutions to promote spin-off development from universities along with the dynamism of industries in the 4th industrial revolution. Identifying spin-off characteristics from universities that support the development strategy of specific sectors has not been widely considered and researched. This study focuses on the characteristics of spin-offs from universities that support Vietnam's pharmaceutical industry development strategy. The study examines and analyzes the following contents: spin-offs from universities in the innovation ecosystem; participation in supporting human resource development, and the pharmaceutical industry's development. This study combines some of the most important theoretical and conceptual references, systematized from reviewing and referencing documents on spin-offs from universities through a qualitative process of methodological aspects in the form of documents. Key results provide a spin-off model with stakeholders connecting the pharmaceutical supply chain. The study's findings and interpretation are linked to the development strategy of the Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry landscape, calling for the adoption of a more complete perspective on spin-off from university participation in the pharmaceutical industry.
