“…Due to these complexities, rheumatology fellowship program directors and division leaders are often unclear about what roles they should have in supporting IMGs through the immigration process. Surveys in other specialties have shown that, while more than 80% of training programs and division leaders had trained individuals on J‐1 or H‐1B visas, only 60% have sponsored applications for US permanent residency, and fewer than one‐half have sponsored a J‐1 waiver (11).
