“…The onset has been observed after 2 weeks to 5.7 months (median, 2 months) of the initiation of the therapy 3 . To our knowledge, no case of interstitial pneumonitis related to flutamide monotherapy has been reported in the published literature, though one case of interstitial pneumonitis associated with a combination of flutamide and LH‐RH analog 1 and another case of acute exacerbation in idiopathic interstitial pneumonitis by flutamide have been presented 2 . The present case suggests that flutamide monotherapy could be a cause of pulmonary toxicity, though it is assumed that the incident of interstitial pneumonitis related to flutamide is lower than that related to nilutamide and bicaltamide.…”

“…In case of moderate or severe pneumonitis, steroids have helped reverse the condition. Since fatal cases of interstitial pneumonitis related to non‐steroidal anti‐androgens have been reported, 1 it is important for urologists to recognize interstitial pneumonitis as one of the adverse reactions of non‐steroidal anti‐androgens. In order to diagnose drug‐induced interstitial pneumonitis as soon as possible, we should explain possible adverse effects to patients and question them about respiratory symptoms during follow‐up.…”

“…2,4,5 The onset of interstitial pneumonitis has been reported 2-8 months after non-steroidal antiandrogen treatment. [1][2][3][4][5] In the case presented here, negative blood and sputum cultures, poor response to antibiotics and excellent response to steroid treatment suggest that it was unlikely that an organism induced the pneumonia. Bucillamin could also induce interstitial pneumonitis; however, the patient had been receiving bucillamine for 50 years and had not developed respiratory disease.…”

“…Only a few cases have been reported in the literature. [1][2][3][4][5] We report here an unusual case of interstitial pneumonitis after bicalutamide and leuprorelin acetate for prostate cancer.…”
