“…As is already common practice by many rehabilitation clinicians, making simple adjustments to framing and language when working with clients can lead to impactful discussions about valued activities and quality of life; for instance, instead of inquiring only about clients’ recent challenges, we can also ask, “What has been going well lately?” as part of collaboratively determining how to facilitate further successes. Another option for structuring therapeutic discussions is the PERMA model, which calls attention to five elements that contribute to flourishing and well-being: positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement (Seligman, 2011, 2018; Turner & Bombardier, 2019).
