Intervention Research

Abstract

This entry reviews major concepts in intervention research. It begins by defining intervention research and then distinguishes intervention research from other forms of research. Following these definitions, the entry offers three major kinds of intervention research: individual‐level intervention research, top‐down community‐level intervention research, and bottom‐up community‐level intervention research. It provides traditions, assumptions of those traditions, and examples of those traditions within each type of intervention research.
