Intra-atomic relativistic effects on the spin polarization in low-energy electron scattering from Ca, Sr, Ba, and Yb atoms

Abstract: The influence of intratarget relativistic effects on electron spin polarization is studied for low-energy electron scattering from Ca, Sr, Ba, and Yb atoms, for which a low-lying d-wave shape resonance is predicted. The motion of the scattering electron is described by solving the continuous-state Dirac-Fock equations plus a parameter-free correlation-polarization potential. The targets are represented using Dirac-Fock, Cowan's quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock, and nonrelativistic Hartree-jock wave functions, in… Show more

“…Nikolic and Tancic [5] carried out calculations for the elastic scattering of slow electron and reported DCSs in the Hartree-Fock (HF) and random phase approximation with exchange and polarization potential. The influence of intra-atomic relativistic effects on electron spin polarization in the low-energy region (0.01-20 eV) was examined by Yuon [6] using three different kinds of atomic wavefunctions: Dirac-Fock (DF), quasi-relativistic Hartree-Fock (QRHF), and nonrelativistic HF for bounded electrons. Using complex optical potential, Kelemen et al [7] concentrated on elastic and inelastic scattering in the energy range up to 200 eV.…”

Дані MCHF-BSR31 порівняні з даними Yuan and Zhang [6], Yuan [7] і Adibzadeh and Theodosiou [9].
