Intra-rater and Inter-instrument Reliability on Range of Movement of Active Knee Extension

Abstract: -The objective of the present study was to evaluate the reliability of intra-rater and inter-instrument measures during two flexibility programs. Fifty-three active and healthy males, aged between 18 and 28 years old, were randomly included in three groups: control (Cg, n = 18), static stretching (SSg, n = 17), and dynamic stretching (DSg, n = 18). All participants underwent measurements of their active range of knee extension using manual goniometry and computerized photogrammetry, measured in four separated … Show more

“…Retrospective computer photogrammetry was applied (Kinovea; Joan, Charmont and Contrib) with computer-based markers on the identified bony landmarks. This is deemed a suitable tool for range of motion measures due to the excellent reported intra-examiner reliability ICC ( 1 , 1 ) = 0.99 [ 39 ].…”

“…Importantly, the ankle maintained its neutral position both at the test's beginning and throughout the duration. An inability to extend the knee by more than 20 degrees was deemed indicative of compromised muscle functionality (Barbosa et al, 2017;Hansberger et al, 2019) aged between 18 and 28 years old, were randomly included in three groups: control (Cg, n = 18).…”

“…Para a mensuração da angulação da articulação do joelho foi utilizado a Fotogrametria computadorizada, técnica de análise de imagens fotográficas para obtenção da posição articular 19 . Para tanto, as imagens foram capturadas por uma câmera digital (Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W35, 7.2 megapixels).…”
