Intraaneurysmal Neuroform Stent Implantation with Compartmental Dual Microcatheter Coil Embolization: Technical Case Report

Abstract: BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE A complex middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysm failed surgical clipping. The aneurysm morphology was characterized by a broad neck with incorporated diminutive branch vasculature and mural calcification. To preserve flow within incorporated branch vessels, coil embolization with intraaneurysmal Neuroform stent implantation was achieved with a novel technique. METHODS AND RESULTS A 52-year-old female presented with an unruptured complex configuration right MCA bifurcation aneurysm. Endov… Show more

“…We examined clinical and surgical reports as well as radiological imaging. Our series included surgically treated complex cases selected based on complexity criteria from the previous literature [ 2 , 4 , 13 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 ], such as the UIATS and Berlin classification [ 3 , 4 , 23 ]. We distinguished “major” and “minor” criteria of complexity: major features were those able to significantly influence the decision-making process for surgery.…”

“…1,2 In recent years, new modified wafflecone techniques have been reported. [3][4][5] Also, a new device that is designed for improving the waffle-cone technique has been introduced. 6 However, there are several concerns about the waffle-cone technique.…”
