“…Discrete organs involved in 512 cases of choriocarcinoma reviewed by Park & Lee (3) were as follows: lung, 94 per cent; vagina, 44 per cent: brain, 28 per cent; liver, 28 per cent; kidney, 25 per cent; and ovary, 22 per cent. Vaughan & Howard (8) reported that 20 per cent of their chorioepithelioma cases had brain metastases. Of 92 trophoblastic tumor cases from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Tokyo Medical College, pulmonary metastases were found in 55.4 per cent and brain metastases in 13 per cent (5).…”

“…Choriocarcinoma may develop after any type of pregnancy (273) and occurs in about 1 in 50,000 deliveries (274). However, it has a predilection to invade blood vessels and may cause (i) infarction by local arterial occlusion (276) or by embolic arterial occlusion (277), (ii) intraparenchymal haemorrhage by invasion through a blood vessel wall (275,(278)(279)(280)(281) or (iii) SAH by formation of a metastatic arterial aneurysm (282)(283)(284).
