Intramural jejunal haematoma in an Arabian mare as a cause of colic: Clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment

Abstract: An 11-year-old Arabian mare was presented to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Koret School of Veterinary Medicine because of acute colic. During exploratory laparotomy, a segment of the jejunum was found to be necrotic, with a haematoma on its antimesenteric border. The segment was removed via hand-sewn resection and anastomosis, and the mare recovered successfully. Histopathology revealed intramural haematoma located in the tunica muscularis.
