Intranasal lobular capillary haemangioma

Abstract: SUMMARYLobular capillary haemangioma (LCH) is a benign proliferation of capillaries with a characteristic lobular architecture on microscopy; it has an affinity for mucous membrane and skin of the head and neck. It is extremely rare in the nasal cavity. We present the case of a 45-year-old man who presented with epistaxis without any predisposing factors, which was diagnosed as lobular capillary haemangioma. “…In terms of imaging features, the diagnosis of LCH consists of the identification of a mass with intense contrast uptake surrounded by a circumferential halo. 1,6,14 In our case series, the imaging study was performed in all patients and no bone erosion or extension to the paranasal or intracranial sinuses was observed. Histopathological examination is crucial for the diagnosis of LCH.…”

“…Según algunos autores, los síntomas más comunes son la epistaxis, en alrededor del 92%, y protrusión de la lesión hacia el exterior produciendo obstrucción nasal, no encontrándose molestias de dolor (14,15). Nuestro caso presentó epistaxis y obstrucción como principales molestias.…”

“…On histopathological examination its typical pattern is characterized by multiple, varying-sized capillaries in a lobular arrangement, surrounded by a loose fibromyxoid stroma. 4 The most common locations for these lesions are the skin and mucous membranes of head and neck, particularly the gingiva of the oral cavity, the nasal cavity being a rare site of origin. 1 2 Within the nasal cavity, these lesions have been described to arise more frequently from the anterior portion of the nasal septum (Little area) or the anterior portion of the inferior turbinate.…”
