Abstract: Type A aortic dissection is a life-threatening emergency requiring prompt surgical treatment. The dissection itself and use of cardiopulmonary bypass can lead to further postoperative complications, including aortic branch occlusion, thrombosis, ischemia, and fatal end-organ damage.
