“…Some suggest that the loading dose can be administered over a 5 rain period but the majority are more cautious and infuse over 20 to 30 rain. If a child is already receiving oral theophylline, some omit the loading dose, others give a portion (usually half) of it and one group even suggest that 6mg/kg can be administered over 10 min [1]. With these dosage discrepancies in mind and since efficacy [7] and serious side effects [10] are related to the height of theophylline levels we recently evaluated the aminophylline regimen used in our department to treat acute severe asthma.…”
