“…1 However, subretinal fluid and serous macular detachment can develop over a choroidal osteoma as a result of the RPE disturbance without evidence of a CNV. 27 Subretinal haemorrhage was present in three cases in this study. Subretinal haemorrhage has been considered a stronger predictive factor for CNV.…”

“…Various modalities have been used in the past including argon green laser, krypton red laser alone or in combination for extrafoveal CNVs, PDT with standard settings or as half-fluence alone or in combination with anti-VEGF agents, TTT alone in one case report 9 or in combination with anti-VEGF agents, 27 and anti-VEGF agents alone or in combination.…”

“…Another interesting aspect of this case is that the patient has remained relatively immunosuppressed after his bone marrow transplant, but this did seem to prevent either the subsequent fibrosis or metaplasia. Finally, while serous retinal detachment associated with ocular calcification has been reported [3], this may be the first reported case of tractional retinal detachment associated with subretinal rather than pre-retinal bone formation in the absence of trauma or phthisis [4,6].…”

“…Cases of CNV secondary to CO are usually treated nowadays with intravitreal injections of anti-VEGF drugs with good response [4]. Anti-VEGF therapy also showed good anatomical and visual results in treating SRF in cases of CO not associated with CNV [5]. We present here long term follow up of a case of CO with IRF and Outer Retinal Tubulations (ORTs) that was thought to have a CNV hence treated with 5 Avastin injections with no anatomical or visual change.…”

“…This, perhaps, supports the theory that ORTs is a healing/remolding mechanism in cases of chronic IRF. Song and colleague [5] reported the efficacy of Avastin in achieving anatomical and visual improvement in cases of SRF secondary to CO without CNV. But this does not apply in our case, as the fluid here was not SRF.…”
