Kai Arne Hansen holds a Ph.D. in critical musicology from the University of Oslo. He is currently employed as an associate professor at the Department of Art and Cultural Studies, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. He specializes in the study of pop music and identity, and has published work in journals including Popular Music and Popular Music and Society, as well as The Routledge Research Companion to Popular Music and Gender. Hansen is currently working on a monograph on post boy band masculinities, forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
