“…The dog remains from the Kamikuroiwa Rock Shelter site dated back to the latter part of the Initial Jomon period (7400-7200 cal BP). The dog burials at this site are considered to be one of the oldest examples in Japan (Shigehara and Hongo, 2000;Gakuhari et al, 2015;Sato, 2015;Sato et al, 2015). The sample (from excavation area A-4 in 1962) analyzed in this study was from scattered dog remains contemporary to the dog burials.…”
