In the era of global technological changes in oil and gas companies, business processes for extraction, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons are being improved, which requires modern high-tech equipment serving these technological processes. Ensuring trouble-free, uninterrupted operation of the equipment of oil and gas companies requires the introduction of digital technologies for its maintenance and repair. The relevance of this study is to develop digitalization of business processes for equipment reconditioning in oil and gas companies. The main business processes of extraction, transportation and processing of hydrocarbons are digitized quite fully. Supporting business processes of repair and maintenance of the equipment aimed at reconditioning and ensuring its smooth operation require further development based on their digitalization.

The unconventional digital petroleum ecosystems are associated with fractured reservoirs that are usually unpredictable, but can produce for longer periods depending on size of petroleum systems and basins. Currently, conventional reservoirs do produce oil & gas even without integrated workflows and solutions. The heterogeneity and multidimensionality of data sources at times can make the data documentation and integration complicated affecting the exploration and field development. We examine the conventional database technologies and their failures in organizing the data of unconventional digital ecosystems. Big Data driven intelligent information system solutions are needed for addressing the issues of complex data systems of unconventional digital ecosystems. Geographically distributed petroleum systems and their associated reservoirs too demand such integrated and innovative digital ecosystem solutions. We propose an innovative design science information system (DSIS), an integrated digital framework solution to explorers, dealing with unconventional fractured reservoirs. The integrated Big Data analytics solutions are effective in interpreting unconventional digital petroleum ecosystems that are impacted by shale prospect businesses worldwide.

Digital technology risk reduction mechanisms to enhance ecological and human safety in the northern sea route for oil and gas companies

Climate change has removed large quantities of ice and has removed impediments to Arctic sea navigation and in doing so has opened up a new route. Most of these ice-free routes can be used for navigation including oil and gas logistics and transportation and reducing transit by more than 5000 nautical miles. While these events allow for a widening of transportation routes but many challenges naturally inherent to the Arctic are still present, for example, the risk of possible oil spills in the very sensitive ecosystem and the safety risks to crew and equipment. New Technology offers more thorough ways to minimize and manage this risk and to preserve the integrity of ecosystems, safety of people and the profits of companies where operations are more cost sensitive and difficult than in other regions of the world. This paper proposes one model of risk reduction and evaluates the best ways to reduce ecological and safety risks of oil and gas companies operating in the Arctic route. It also proposes methods to incorporate digital value into the organization through four sectors, Sustainability, Efficiency, Accountability and Profitability.
