Show more

“…The adjusted coefficient of determination (R²) was also numerically higher in the direction-dependent interpolation method (Table 3). Similar R² values were reported by Leal et al (2011), who also worked with ordinary kriging to map the productive units of a Eucalyptus urophylla stand, as well as by Santos et al (2017), when studying stands of Eucalyptus grandis Hill ex Maiden.…”

“…Regarding the use of wood in the construction sector, this study assumed the use of eucalyptus, which already accounts for 72% 99 of all planted forests in Brazil, and also wood associated with deforestation in the Amazon. The emission factors of eucalyptus wood and of wood associated with deforestation were calculated based on the wood volume of the forest (290 m 3 ha −1 100,101 and 180 m 3 ha, −1, 102 respectively), the basic density of the wood (0.49 g cm −3 103 and 0.65 g/cm, 3, 104 respectively), and the emission factor from the silviculture of eucalyptus and from deforestation‐induced land‐use change (−61 tCO 2 eq/ha 105,106 and 94.2 tCO 2 eq/ha, 107 respectively). It worth noting that the use of wood from planted forest in the construction sector can also act as carbon sink, as discussed in Churkina et al .…”
