Today, most companies have adopted corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies to influence their relationships with society and other stakeholders positively. As a result, it is necessary for CSR research to identify the drivers that make companies inclined to implement CSR strategies. This study investigates the drivers of companies' interest in applying CSR policies through a systematic literature review. We first collected 130 articles from different sources; then we categorized the drivers these articles identified for CSR activities according to Carroll's social responsibility pyramid. This research shows that most of the drivers identified by previous studies relate to economic, legal, and ethical responsibilities. In contrast, philanthropic and environmental responsibilities have been given less attention. According to Carroll's pyramid, economic, legal, and moral responsibilities are at the primary levels. Since environmental issues have received special attention from societies, the drivers related to this responsibility should be well-identified and investigated.
