Investigating the in vitro photothermal effect of green synthesized apigenin‐coated gold nanoparticle on colorectal carcinoma

Abstract: Applying toxic chemical to the synthesis of stable gold nanoparticles is one of the limitations of gold nanoparticles for therapeutic applications such as photothermal therapy. Plant compounds such as apigenin (API) with therapeutic potential can be applied in the synthesis of gold nanoparticles. API-coated gold nanoparticles (Api@AuNPs) with an average size of 19.1 nm and a surface charge of À 4.3 mV have been synthesized by a simple and efficient technique. The stability of Api@AuNPs in the biological enviro… Show more

“…Then, 5 mL of the mixed solution was transferred into two centrifuge tubes and centrifuged at a speed of 5000 rpm for 10 min. Referring to a related study [ 34 ], the precipitate was washed several times with 0.9% NaCl solution until complete removal of by-products, and then transferred to two 10 mL HACH colorimetric tubes. Four sets of tests were set up as follows: 1) the first set contained fungus precipitate and 5 mL deionized water; 2) the second set contained fungus precipitate and 5 mL Sabourand's medium; 3) the third set contained 5 mL deionized water; 4) the fourth set contained 5 mL Sabourand's medium.…”

“…The mixture was treated with a 2.0 M sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution. Following that, the solution underwent a series of nine centrifugation cycles at 7000 rpm for 15 min and decantation had been washed thoroughly using distilled water and ethanol to remove any impurities [ 41 ]. After that, the precipitates were dried for 6 h at 120 °C, subjected to a 4-h calcination at 600 °C to remove any remaining moisture, and thereafter ground using a mortar and pestle into a fine powder.…”

“…These concerns are usually counteracted by plant polyphenols [92]. Therefore, in order to overcome such potential limitations, recent studies have also focused on fabricating particles with the help of isolated biocompounds, such as curcumin, kaempferol, apigenin and quercetin [93,94]. Current research highlights the benefits that the use of plant material (plants, microorganisms, algae) confers in obtaining NPs.…”
