Investigation Effect of ECR’s Thickness and Initial Value of Resistance Spot Welding Simulation using 2-Dimensional Thermo-Electric Coupled

Abstract: The simulation of resistance spot welding (RSW) is used to approximate the experiment results and can be used to predict the nugget weld size. This article presents the 2D-Axisymmetric thermal-electric coupled model with properties of Electric Contact Resistance (ECR). The objective of his study is to investigate the effect of ECR thickness and the ECR's initial value on weld nugget geometry and thermal history. Direct current (DC) was applied with 10kA. Measurement of nugget geometry was performed by observin… Show more

“…16) Tensile strength in TIG welding decreases with an increase in the impulse frequency because of the shortening of the time interval between two adjacent peaks of impulse current. 17) Welding speed is most important parameter to achieve welding strength 18) in TIG welding, factors like thermal expansion, the specific heat of base material, density and Resistance plays an essential role in welding strength 19) now a day highly efficient thermocouples are used to measure temperature in heat affected zone during welding 20) artificial neural networks can be used to get optimize weld strength 21) with DEMATEL, TOPSIS method can be used to develop an interrelationship between welding variables with sensitivity test. 22) Fuzzy expert system can also be applied to create a relation between strength and other variables.…”

“…is commonly used for many applications to discover the behavior of a system and structure 21) and offers a straightforward approach at almost no cost 22) . This simulation approach is also able to validate the structural design integrity 23) , to calculate the stress-strain distribution easier than the experimental 24), and to increase the accuracy of the result 25) . Therefore, an F.E.M.…”

“…Various types of dimensional measurements are very important in determining the quality of products and facilities in various aspects of life, including flatness, roundness, strength, angular measurement, and long derivatives [1][2][3][4][5] . Various methods have been developed in dimensional measurements, e.g., based on the temperature parameter 6) . One of the applications of accurate dimensional measurements is to determine the accuracy of a design 7) and test the performance quality of machines and mechanics [8][9] .…”
