Investigation into the density of polystyrene foam models when implementing the resource-saving fabrication technology of thin-wall aluminum sheet

Abstract: The influence of density of polystyrene foam models on the quality of thin wall casts of the cap of the gas analyzer case made of AK7 alloy smelted based on wastes of home manufacture (the charge contained 50-55% secondary materials) is investigated in conditions of OOO Research and Production Enterprise "Vektor Mashinostroeniya" (Novokuznetsk). To foam polystyrene (produced by STYROCHEM, Montreal, Canada) and fabricate the models, a GK 100 3M autoclave is used. Varying temporal and time autoclave modes, we ac… Show more

“…In this case, aluminum alloys with a high concentration of alloying elements are more susceptible to corrosion destruction than alloys with a low degree of supersaturation of solid solution. One of the main prerequisites for such destruction is the presence of hydrogen inclusions [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12].…”

“…At present, methods have been developed to control the formation of the structure and properties of aluminum alloys through the use of various physical methods for treating melts in the processes of melting and crystallization. For these purposes, tested methods such as temperature-speed and temperature-time processing [6][7][8][9], the effects of magnetic and electric fields [10][11][12], ultrasonic and vibration processing [13][14][15], and several others.…”

“…Hydrogen is one of the most significant gaseous impurities, which negatively affect the mechanical and technological properties of the products made of aluminum alloys and composites based on these alloys [6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. As compared with the other gases present in aluminum alloys, hydrogen has the highest solubility in liquid aluminum [13].…”
