“…For instance, the cause of the collapse of the Chirajara Bridge, which was a cable-stayed bridge still under construction, was attributed to a weakness in the tower's strength caused by a flawed design [39]. Lessons learned from incidents such as the collapse of the FIU pedestrian bridge in Miami, FL, USA [40] and the collapse of the Butou Bridge in Guangxi, China, due to excessively high abutments underscore the importance of prompt implementation of countermeasures when design errors lead to malfunctions.…”

“… 1 . Due to the above problems, many bridges around the world collapsed, such as the Ezhou huhua Interchange Ramp 2 , Morandi Bridge in Italy 3 and Florida International University pedestrian bridge 4 , etc. Those collapses of bridges caused serious disastrous disasters to people's lives and the social economy, which prompted people to hope for a system with a comprehensive and long-lasting health monitoring on the bridge.…”

“…Several bridge failures that occurred in the last half-century were due to underestimated design forces, as noted in the collapse of the Florida International University pedestrian bridge. Zhou et al [10] outlined that the main cause of this collapse was the re-tensioning operation on prestressing rods per the bridge design plans, which produced additional loading on the diagonal members and thus shear failure. This study demonstrated the importance of timely accounting for countermeasures in case of malfunctioning, even during the construction stage.…”
