“…In this study, imidacloprid residues were removed in the range of 65.16 -66.29% from grapes during washing with tap water and it is inferred that there is a strong correlation between water solubility (600 mg L -1 ) and removal of imidacloprid (Malhat et al 2021). Crushing/homogenisation does not impact residues, but it speeds up processes like hydrolysis and releases isolated enzymes, acids from the cuticle layer more quickly, reducing residues in the juice.…”

“…The residues found were less than the FSSAI and EU MRLs of 1.0 mg/kg. A negligible amount of systemic insecticides might be absorbed by pulp or fruits (Malhat et al 2021). In the case of juice preparation, pasteurisation (80 o C for 10 minutes) was led to the loss of imidacloprid residue (10.49%) and it might be due to evaporation, hydrolysis, or thermal destruction during heating.…”

“…Washing reduced chlorpyrifos residues (21%) in apple processing [47]. It is inferred that there is a strong correlation between water solubility (600 mg L-1) and removal of imidacloprid [48]. Crushing/homogenization does not impact residues, but it speeds up processes like hydrolysis, which releases isolated enzymes and acids from the cuticle layer more quickly, reducing residues in the juice.…”

“…Clarification of juice may eliminate residues retained in the suspended particles. A negligible number of systemic insecticides might be absorbed by pulp or fruits [48]. Studies reported 93.26-97.85% removal of imidacloprid residues during processing of apples into juice [47].…”

“…The phytochemical properties of imidacloprid viz., water solubility (0.61 g/L at 20 °C), vapor pressure (3 x 10 -12 mmHg at 20 °C), octanol/water partition coefficient (Kow) (pH 7 -0.57 at 21 °C) and Henry's constant (1.7 x 10 -10 Pa•m 3 /mol) (Pesticide Properties DataBase, 2022). Imidacloprid residues in crops like mango, grapes, okra, potato, cucumber, strawberry, apple and soil have been quantified using Liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and Liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry (LC-MS) (Malhat et al, 2021;Hendawi et al, 2018;Majed et al, 2021;Mohapatra et al, 2012;Sahoo et al, 2012). While previous research estimated imidacloprid residues on different crops, no systematic study has been carried out on the dissipation kinetics, decontamination and risk assessment of imidacloprid in bitter gourd.…”
