Investigation Of The Effects Of Plasma Treatment On The Properties Of Flax Fabrics

Abstract: In this study, flax fabrics were applied with oxygen and nitrogen plasma treatment for different execution time. After the plasma treatment, the effects of gas type and execution time on flax fabrics were investigated in terms of shear strength, hydrophility, color differences, dimensional change and surface properties. According to the results, nitrogen plasma treatment caused to increase the shear strength of flax fabrics more than oxygen plasma treatment. Furthermore, the oxygen and nitrogen plasma treatmen… Show more

“…Contact angle (CA) measurement is a simple but effective method used to investigate the effect of APPlJ on the restructured surface after the treatment process. 13,14 While lower contact angles of the hydrophilic water on the contact surface shows that the application surface has a hydrophilic character, high contact angles indicate a hydrophobic character. 16 In composite structure, reinforcement and the matrix material should show similar hydrophilicity.…”

“…Atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPlJ) treatment, one of these methods, is predominant with parameters such as high pressure and plasma power according to similar methods. 2,5,[11][12][13] With these properties, the physical changes such as cleaning, etching, etc. are performed faster on the treated surfaces and the matrix compatible surface can be obtained by plasma-induced molecular interaction.…”
