Investigation of the Synergistic Effect of Layer-by-Layer Films of Carbon Nanotubes and Polypyrrole on a Flexible Electrochemical Device for Paraquat Sensing

Stefanny F. Amaro,
Cristiane C. Maciel,
Jéssica S. Rodrigues
et al.

Abstract: This research aims to study flexible sensors based on a poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) biodegradable polymer and graphite. Sensors were modified through the layer-by-layer (LbL) technique to improve their electrochemical behavior for paraquat (PQ) detection. Nanostructured films were obtained by alternating layers of anionic and cationic materials, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and polypyrrole (PPY), respectively. The devices, with and without modification, were characterized by contact angle, scann… Show more

“…Specifically, the carboxylic acid functionalized-MWCNT has mainly been explored due to its easier processability in aqueous media and possible interactions with other molecules through its carboxyl groups. MWCNT were already successfully applied in multilayers assembled with gold nanoparticles 16 for cholesterol detection and with polypyrrole for PQ detection 17 . The LbL electrodeposition of carbon nanotubes and metal–organic frameworks has been recently explored to detect glucose 18 and metals (Cd and Pb) 19 .…”
