Investigation of the thermomechanical performance of hybrid polymer composite using micro bamboo powder and graphite flakes

Abstract: The current research project is dedicated to tackling the issue of fiber alignment and composite material delamination. Alkali treatment is performed to enhance the bamboo filler reinforced composite's mechanical performance as well as interfacial bonding strength. The hybrid composite is developed with varied bamboo powder content from 2.5 to 12.5 wt% and graphite nanoplatelets (GN) are reinforced in the polymer matrix. The hybrid composite is manufactured with bamboo powder approximately 65 μm sized and GN f… Show more

“…In this case, aluminium oxide (Al 2 O 3 ) 13,14 , aluminium nitride (AlN) 15 , boron nitride (BN) [16][17][18][19] boron carbide (B 4 C) 20 , and silicon carbide 21 are usually introduced into polymers by solution mixing or melt processing. An increase in thermal conductivity can be enhanced not only by the use of a single ceramic filler, and thus, hybrid fillers are commonly introduced in polymer composites 22,23 .The heat conduction process of thermally conductive polymer composites becomes more complex owing to added filler, including thermal conduction pathways, thermally conductive percolation, and thermoelastic coefficient mechanism 24 . Besides to the good thermal conductivity of the filler, volume fraction and dispersion are of much greater importance 25 .…”
