“…World crude steel production reached just over 1.8 billion tons in 2018. In 2017, global electric arc furnace (EAF) output accounted for about 30% of global steel production (around 480 million tons) [1,2]. During the production of 1 ton of steel in EAF, 10-30 kg of dust is generated [3].…”

“…This method is cost effective as we have carried out the synthesis in a simple refluxing glass assembly instead of an autoclave, which is highly expensive. The oxalate acts as an excellent precursor for the synthesis of pure and homogeneous oxide nanoparticles with high surface area because of its low decomposition temperature and enables the modification in physical properties of oxide semiconductors by doping the precursor in the course of its synthesis . Recently, this method has been used for the preparation of nanocrystalline Zn 1− x Ni x O, Zn 1− x Co x O, and In 2− x Mn x O 3 with controlled morphological properties.…”

“…Zinc oxide is one of such materials that have received special interest because it has both charge and spin degrees of freedom in a single matrix, which lead to the interplay of functionalities (magnetic and electronic). Also the oxalates from the 3d metals such as zinc are isomorphous in nature, which enables the enhancement of physical properties of oxide semiconductors by doping the precursor in the course of synthesis [2][3][4][5][6]. Many research groups that have worked on doping with transition metals have used zinc oxide as a good host material for realizing wide band-gap dilute magnetic semiconductors.…”
